Jumbo death disrupts Fort-Batticaloa trains

Train services were disrupted up to yesterday after a Maha Oya-bound goods train from Batticaloa derailed after colliding with a she elephant on Saturday at the 134the mile post on the Gal-Oya Habarana road.
The she elephant died on the spot but her calf who received minor injuries had fled to the jungle.

Trains to Batticaloa from Colombo Fort were cancelled on Saturday and resumed last morning.
