'The Beach' - Negombo

Formerly known as the 'Royal Oceanic Hotel', 'The Beach' was renovated last November giving it an unrecognizable facelift. It is now the only five-star hotel in Negombo, full of beautifully contrived interiors created to please the eye.

The hotel consists of 75 deluxe rooms and three luxury suites. All rooms have a balcony or terrace facing the sea. Each suite is luxuriously designed with a Lounge Suite and even a Jacuzzi. The DVD library and the butler service are added comforts.

The hotel has many in-house activities as well. It has two swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, a gymnasium and a spa. It also has a cyber café, flower shop, jeweler etc.

However, the most unique aspect of this hotel is the childcare concept, a pioneer idea, introduced this November. Jetwing together with Mark Warner UK, a tour operator specialized in the family holiday concept, provides a safe environment for children to play, learn and make friends. This leaves their parents free to relax and enjoy their holiday.

All childcare is provided by experienced and trained nanny teams. All the nannies and play-leaders speak English fluently and many hold a professional child care qualification.

Children from the age of six months to 18 years will be looked after and kept entertained during the day, except during meal times. Babysitting will often be provided into the late evening as well.

The youngest of children, those who are just six months old, will be cared for in air conditioned crèches which have been designed and built to the company's own specification. The children will be entertained and given much attention.

During the morning and the afternoon the play-leaders will organize nature walks, cycle tours, boat rides, face painting, singing sessions and games on the beach.

Older children can learn to sail and snorkel. They could also try their hand at windsurfing and even diving. They will be supervised by the childcare staff and the 'Water Sports Centre' which is certified by the Royal Yacht Club in UK. Those who prefer to be on dry land could practice football or learn to play volleyball.

According to Indira Hettiarachchi, Sales Manager Jetwing Hotels Ltd, 'The Beach, Negombo' is the perfect place for parents to unwind in and let everything go, safe in the knowledge that their children are being looked after.
