I have a question I am hoping someone can help me with. In 1999 I travelled and worked in Polonnaruwa and toured the Tivanka Image House.

Today I am writing a story about that trip. I thought I recalled, when I was in the Image House, that the Tivanka Buddha was in one piece, complete. He had his head and arms. However, when I went to this site to refresh my memory, I see he is missing much of his top half, including his arms and head:

I wonder if that damage is recent or if my memory is flawed. Does anyone know how the Tivanka Buddha looked in September 1999. Does anyone have a photo from then that they can share with me? I took no photos because they weren't allowed at the time. Perhaps someone has an old brochure or other publication? Was there a known event that occurred between then and now that may have caused recent damage?

I thank you for any help you can provide,

- Rosetta
