Dear Sir or Madam,
I work as an interpretation specialist for Parks Canada, a federal agency responsible for the preservation and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. My position includes the production of interpretive materials such as brochures, text panels, and exhibits to communicate the importance of various National Historic Sites and National Parks in the Atlantic Region of Canada. I am currently involved in the development of exhibits for a martello tower located in Saint John, New Brunswick.
Link to Carleton Martello Tower: http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/nb/carleton/index_e.asp
One section of the exhibits in development will explore different martello towers around the world - their construction, their preservation, and their current use. I am very interested in including the martello tower of Hambantota in this exhibit, and I am writing in the hope that someone will be able to assist me in the collection of information and materials about this tower.
I understand that the National Fisheries Museum is housed in the tower, but I have been unable to find an email address for this museum. I would be grateful if this email could be forwarded.
Ideally, I would be interested in any brochure or book about the tower and its history that may be available. Postcards or any other promotional materials that feature the tower would also be excellent material objects to include in the exhibit.
Please advise me as to the availability of such materials, and what the cost of purchasing these may be. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to your reply.
With best wishes, Malve Petersmann
