Muththusami Ilankoowan (Sami) arrested in Colombo
Top Tiger make a detailed confession before Magistrate

Ilankoowan is said to be the second in command to Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP and his confidante in the LTTE Marine unit. The Defence Ministry website said that Muttusami, a Sri Lankan born Tamil, has strong connections with LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and also with LTTE international wing leaders such as Castro, Kumaran Padmanadan, David and Iyyanna. According to the intelligence official quoted by the Defence Ministry the suspect owns a shipping line which he uses to promote the LTTE’s cross border terrorist activities.

Muttusamy Ilankoowan, now under arrest yesterday revealed vital information about Tiger activities when he made a voluntary confession before a Colombo Magistrate. Ilankoowan who owns several vessels made a detailed confession before Additional Magistrate Ravindra Premaratne in his Chamber after he was escorted to Courts under heavy guard. He had revealed details about activities and movements of Tiger leaders, his involvement with the LTTE hierarchy and the role he played within the movement.

Muththusami Ilankoowan alias Sami is possibly the highest ever LTTE operative arrested in Colombo, by a special team of policemen senior officials said.

Ilankoowan is said to be the second in command to Kumaran Pathmanathan alias KP and his confidante in the Marine unit. It is alleged that Muttusamy Ilankoowan had represented the LTTE in the international market to purchase weapons and fire arms.

Sri Lankan born Tamil who holds a Singaporean passport was arrested at a lodge in Wolfendhal Street in Pettah on Monday afternoon by cops clad in civvies who came in a white van. His arrest was earlier reported by the local media that he was being abducted by unknown persons, but a police spokesperson later admitted that he is under arrest by the police.

Investigators found credible evidence to prove his connection with the LTTE, including the photos taken by the suspect with several Tiger leaders including the LTTE supremo.

He has had close links with Kumaran Pathmanathan alais KP, head of LTTE's International Supply Unit and coordinate local supplies to the LTTE. He also has his own shipping company, which the investigators suspect was involved with many cross boarder arms transportation.

Ilankoowan involvement in LTTE has caused hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian deaths in the country. Ilankoowan must be interrogated severely and get all the relevant information about the LTTE terrorists and shoot to death or hang to death.
