Dr.Asoka Watawana Senior lecturer of Peradeniya university medical faculty who is the head of the medical team observing the health of Ven.Dr.Omalpe Sobitha Thero, who is performing a hunger strike unto death at Sri Dhalada Maligawa said the following to the SinhalaNet at the bed side of the fasting monk.Today is the 4th day of the fast. Yesterday we observed the pulse of the monk falling. His was observed to be dehydrated. His body was becoming weaker rapidly. The Dr.Asoka Watawana to persuade him to drink little perith water at a time. How ever after 2 AM this morning the monk refused to take even a drink of water. At this moment his pulse is very weak and he has refused to accept a dose of saline to counter the dehydration

Yesterday 2005 06 08 the Amarapura Mahanayake Valigama Gnanarathana Thero visited the venue of the fast unto death campaign at Sri Dhalada Maligawa yesterday.

At about 8.00 PM 2005 06 07 the Mahanayake Thero of the Malwathu Chapter Most Ven.Thibotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero visited the venue of the Sathyakgraha, on the 3rd day.
