Vote passed despite UNP, JVP, TNA

The supplementary estimates were passed by parliament with a majority of 20.

The government has been able to approve supplementary estimates despite the United National Party, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and the Tamil National Alliance voting against.

The supplementary estimates were passed by parliament with a majority of 20.

The supplementary estimates for Rs. 657,561,000 were presented in parliament by Government to meet the cost of seven ministries 107 members voted for the estimates while 87 members opposed.

New ministries

The estimates were for expenditure of the ministries Supplementary Plantation Crops Development, National Heritage, Export Development and International Trade, Public Estate Management and Development, Construction and Engineering Services, Water Supply & Drainage, and Special Projects.

These ministries were set up when the number of ministries was increased in the last Cabinet re-shuffle by President Rajapaksa.
