COLOMBO, May 1 (Xinhuanet) -- The Sri Lankan government has allowed top Tamil Tiger leaders to attend the funeral of the slain journalist Dhramaratnam Sivaram.
Military officials here said Sunday that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) members will be provided protection to travel from the Northern Province to the eastern Batticaloa district where the funeral is to be held on Monday.
Sivaram edited the pro-LTTE website Tamilnet and his columns in the national English daily papers were well accepted.
He was abducted Thursday night by an unidentified group opposite a police station in Colombo and the body was found the following morning near parliamentary complex in the capital.
Up to now no group had claimed responsibility for the murder. The LTTE has conferred the highest honor to Sivaram for his commitment shown toward "the cause of the Tamil Tigers." Enditem
