Army Commander transferred to Military Hospital

@ SLARMY / 06MAY2006

FAST RECUPERATING Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka who miraculously survived the woman suicide bomber’s attack on his car 11 days ago, was transferred to Military Hospital after his stay at the Intensive Care Unit, Colombo National Hospital.

Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka who has now regained full consciousness suffered injuries only to his abdominal area and needs a short period of mental rest and physical relaxation as per advice of the medical experts.

Medical experts opine that the Commander’s fortunate escape from a suicidal bomb without any injuries inflicted on his head or chest or being disable, serves a rare phenomenon for a military officer of the highest seat.

However, until the Commander resumes duties fully in the near future he will continue to carryout his responsibilities as Commander of the Army.
