Post subject:  Buddhism - Mahavira- Buddha

I was reading Buddha Charithaya by Narada thero. In page 52 there is reference to say Mahavira and Buddha may have followed the same teacher by the name PIHITHASAWA.

I have never come acoss this before.

Like to know wheter anybody has further information on this fact?

Well to be honest this also quite new to me.

Althou Mahavira and Buddha were known to be contempraries, records states they probably never met....however even that is unlikely as they were two of the foremost spiritual leaders of India and living in the same era..............they were also probabaly related to each other as most noble familes in the gangetic plain were tired to each other through matrimonial alliances.

But there is a possiblilty they may sought spiritual guidance from a common guru, although there is little evidence as to that.
Buddha is know to have had only two gurus,Alara Kalama and Uddhaka Ramaputta.
