Maybe you are against a war in a distant land, based on the naive argument that all conflict can be resolved by peaceful means.

While that is admirable, it is also naive, stupid and usually gets the innocent and helpless killed in larger numbers and allows despots to rule without challenge.

The war in Sri Lanka was not caused by the choice of the majority of its people. It was thrust upon them, and threatens their very existance as a nation. The Sri Lankan people have proven formidable opponents of Tamil tribalism and racist terrorism in their stauch refusal to cave into thuggery and terror. The current round of violence was agiant thrust upon the Sri Lankan state by the LTTE, in pursuit of an ethnic-cleansed facsist ruled landscape.

Sri Lankans have never been intimidated into acquiesence, and are not about to start now. We did not start this war.

But we will be damned if we fail to finish it on our terms.

Peace at any cost is not peace. It is only the end of human dignity.
