Dense, dark, wet and mysterious forests & ecosystems are Sri Lankan heritage. A recent assessment of the dollar value of our natural ecosystems estimated them at US$ 33 trillion.

26 birds have been identified as endemic birds of Sri Lanka. Most of this birds are threatened by rapid destruction of forest and drying off of water flows.

244 species of butterflies are in Sri Lanka, 20 are endemics. 117 species of dragonfly (52 endemic) can be found in the island.
